New services for the homeless in Island County

This is an unusual blog but I felt it important to find a place for this new service on our site.  This Housing Support Center will help us all coordinate services so we may better serve those in our community needing help.  Judy

The Housing Support Center is the main office of Island County’s coordinated entry.  The Housing Support Center is a new community service that assists families and individuals that are either at risk of becoming homeless or already struggling with homelessness by connecting them to housing and supportive services as quickly as possible.

The Housing Support Center is staffed with a Housing Navigator who will conduct screenings and assessments, consider all housing programs across the county and determine what program and service provider best fits their needs and connect them with that agency.

A key component of the work at the Housing Support Center will be to provide light touch case management, for those interested, when no housing is available by connecting them with needed services and supports while waiting for housing.

Helping Hand will be a satellite office in South Whidbey where folks can get a housing pre-screening.  Helping Hand, located at Trinity Lutheran Church 18341 Hwy. 525 Freeland, WAPhone: 360-221-7777 Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 12:00.
